* A popular Executioner strategy is for the Executioner can feign any investigative role. This gives him the ability to bring distrust onto his target. He is also capable of convincing a Doctor to heal him at night after gaining the Town's trust. The Executioner has the best chance by claiming a investigative role for the Town to get his target executed. To successfully do this, he must be willing to face scrutiny. Experience playing a Mafia role is helpful training since it offers practice deceiving other players.
+
* A popular Executioner strategy is for the Executioner to pretend to be an investigative role and claim to have evidence that makes his target an evil player. However, most players expect Executioners to do this, so a little creativity is advised. Fake last wills that you can copy-paste for the Town to see will help boost your credibility. Alternatively if you see that the Town is lynch happy, sometimes little effort can be required to lynch your target.

:* Sheriff: By claiming Sheriff, the Executioner has several options. You can claim your target is a member of the Mafia or Cult, or is a Serial Killer, Mass Murderer, or Arsonist; the Executioner should check what roles the Sheriff can take. The Executioner's typical strategy is to claim that its target is a member of the Mafia. However, this is a common strategy and most experienced players might be wary of going with this Sheriff claim, especially on Day 1. Sometimes, it is best to claim their target an evil detectable neutral role, preferably one that is on the roles list.
+
* Claiming unconventional roles will make you more believable. If you notice that there is a night that a confirmed evil role does not kill on (e.g. a Dragon Head), you can claim to be an Escort and say that you roleblocked your target last night, which means he must be evil and that the Town should lynch him.

:* Investigator: By claiming Investigator, the Executioner has the freedom to claim his target is whatever evil role he so chooses if Investigators detect exact roles. If not, the Executioner has to pick a better role for his target to claim.  A good accusation is claiming an investigative role whose counterpart is not possible to be randomed. Here are a few examples:
+
* The Executioner can attempt to double bluff the Town. Asking Town Killing roles to kill your target at night will help convince people you aren't an Executioner, since an Executioner wants to lynch his target. If your target does not die at night, people are more likely to lynch him the next day, since you pretended not to care if he died at night.
:** Janitor accusation when Coroners don't have their appropriate 'night check' setting on.
+
** Alternatively, if your target does die at night, the Town is more likely to lynch you. At this point you will be a Jester, and being lynched will be your new goal.
:** Godfather or Framer accusation when Citizens are excluded in the Town Random and Spys are excluded from randoms and either accusation is immune to detection. This is slight risky because Spys, Citizens, immune-to-detection Godfathers, and immune-to-detection Framers all look like the Jester.
+
:** Mass Murderer accusation when Veterans are excluded from randoms.  This is an especially good Executioner claim because if an Investigator survives an encounter from a possible Veteran, the accusation will be more believable.
+

:* Lookout: The Lookout claim works when an Executioner claims the role and says '"X" was the only one to visit "Y" is dead. It is almost foolproof unless someone else steps up and claims that they also visited the deceased last night.  However, this claim works especially well for Day 1 accusations. The Executioner should take caution to not claim or imply that their target is the Godfather if Lookouts don't ignore detection immunity and the Godfather is detection immune.
+
* Above all, creativity is key. An Executioner has only his wits as a means to victory. The best Executioners are highly adaptable in being able to use known information and roles for their specific game while spreading lies and deceit in order to convince the Town to lynch their targets.

+
:* Detective: The Detective claim works directly opposite to the Lookout claim strategy.  The Executioner will claim Detective and will say 'I followed "X" last night and he visited "Y," the deceased.'  This claim works especially well after more days have passed. Again, the Executioner should take caution to not claim or imply that their target is the Godfather if Detectives don't ignore detection immunity and the Godfather is detection immune.
+

+
:* Consigliere: Similar to the Investigator, a useful strategy for the Executioner to use would be to claim Consigliere and claim your target is Serial Killer. This method works best if the Consigliere has the ability to detect the exact roles.
+

+
* If the Executioner predicts he is going to fail his primary objective of getting his target lynched, and the appropriate Jester option is enabled, the Executioner can start to pretend he's a Jester. This works especially when the target leaves the game during the daytime.
+

+
* If there are Cultists in play, and you just got your target lynched (and you don't have to survive to the end), you should commit Suicide ASAP. It's better that you die knowing that you've already guaranteed a victory than become converted and risk losing the game.

Overview

The Executioner is a neutral role with no active abilities. The Executioner wins if his target is lynched during the day. If his target is killed at night, the Executioner may become a Jester depending on the settings.

Strategies

  • The best time for an Executioner to push up his target to trial or lynch relies on two factors.
    • The earlier the accusation, the more the town is skeptical about you figuring out your target so soon; for example accusing your target after Night 1. Statistically, its a little bit unlikely that one person will find an evil role night one.
    • On the other hand, the later the Executioner waits, the more likely it is that your target will be confirmed as a Town member.
  • A popular Executioner strategy is for the Executioner to pretend to be an investigative role and claim to have evidence that makes his target an evil player. However, most players expect Executioners to do this, so a little creativity is advised. Fake last wills that you can copy-paste for the Town to see will help boost your credibility. Alternatively if you see that the Town is lynch happy, sometimes little effort can be required to lynch your target.
  • Claiming unconventional roles will make you more believable. If you notice that there is a night that a confirmed evil role does not kill on (e.g. a Dragon Head), you can claim to be an Escort and say that you roleblocked your target last night, which means he must be evil and that the Town should lynch him.
  • The Executioner can attempt to double bluff the Town. Asking Town Killing roles to kill your target at night will help convince people you aren't an Executioner, since an Executioner wants to lynch his target. If your target does not die at night, people are more likely to lynch him the next day, since you pretended not to care if he died at night.
    • Alternatively, if your target does die at night, the Town is more likely to lynch you. At this point you will be a Jester, and being lynched will be your new goal.
  • Above all, creativity is key. An Executioner has only his wits as a means to victory. The best Executioners are highly adaptable in being able to use known information and roles for their specific game while spreading lies and deceit in order to convince the Town to lynch their targets.

Options

  • Becomes Jester upon failure - (Default: On)
  • Target is always town - (Default: On)
  • Must survive to the end - (Default: Off)
  • Invulnerable at Night - (Default: Off)

Notes

  • The Executioner is not rewarded any points until the game is over.
    • If the option "Must survive to the end" is enabled, the Executioner will receive even more points for winning.
  • The Executioner has no active night ability.
  • If the Executioner's target dies and the "Becomes Jester upon failure" is not enabled, the Executioner will suicide.
  • If the Executioner's target appears to die, but he doesn't turn into a Jester or commit suicide, then the target was a Disguiser or Informant. The Executioner now has no idea who his target might be.
  • Assuming he had his target lynched and he does not have to survive to the end of the game, the Executioner is free to act as he desires for the remainder of the game.
