Overview
The Disguiser is a very powerful manipulator that is able to kill a player and steal their identity. This can be especially useful if a certain player is known to be a reputable town role, such as the Mayor, an Investigator, or a Sheriff.
Strategy
- If there is a Janitor in play, it is frequently a good idea to have the Mafia not kill for one night as you claim your target and either have the Janitor clean the target or use your personal cleaning if it is enabled.
- If there is no Janitor and you have personal cleaning enabled, have the Mafia kill normally as you claim a target. Smart towns will notice that someone was cleaned and that the Disguiser has made his move.
- If there is no Janitor and you do not have personal cleaning enabled, it may be wise to have the Mafia not kill for a night so the town doesn't know whether the Disguiser has made a move yet.
- Advanced strategy: If you know a Town role that is likely to lead people (Sheriff or Investigator most likely) and is being healed by a single doctor, you can coordinate for the regular Mafia attacker to cancel the doctor heal to leave you open to abduct the target's role.
Options
- Cleans the target's role - (Default = off)
Notes
- When disguising, the Disguiser will appear to die the following morning and the message "We could not determine the player's role" will appear if the Host has the option enabled. Otherwise, the target's role will appear.
- Disguisers retain their role and have no abilities after disguising as someone. Disguisers will not participate in Mason night chat and will not be in their allies list, meaning it is generally a very bad idea to disguise as a Mason if other Masons are still alive.
- Be careful when disguising as the Mayor because you will no longer retain the extra votes. Smart players will pick up on this immediately.
