Overview
The Mafioso is essentially a henchman of the Mafia and the most basic Mafia-aligned role. The role has the ability to suggest to kill people at night; the player that receives the highest number of suggestions will be killed by a random Mafioso that night.
Strategy
- When deciding who to kill always consider who the Doctors are most likely to protect and avoid trying to kill these players. Players most likely to be under Doctor protection are confirmed Sheriffs and Investigators followed by Escorts, Vigilantes and other Doctors.
- Whilst the Godfather always has the final say on who the Mafia will kill, Mafioso can still use the kill suggestion system even with a Godfather in the game. This allows the Mafia to communicate silently, avoiding revealing information to a Spy (unless the Spy is able to see Mafia targets).
- Pretend to be a Town member during the day.
- Advanced strategy: Pretend to be "silenced" by a Blackmailer and say nothing. This may incriminate a Sheriff who is found by an Investigator if the Town believes there is a Blackmailer in the game.
- Make sure to suggest to kill if the Godfather seems AFK. He could be jailed, and if the Mafia appears to continue killing, he will be cleared from suspicion by the Jailor as a killing role.
- If you are found by an Investigator and are going to be lynched, you can falsely claim Jailor or Vigilante and say you will prove your innocence tonight (it would typically be wiser to say Jailor as a Town member may volunteer to be jailed to prove your claim). While you may inevitably be lynched the next day when it turns out you haven't jailed or shot anyone, the time bought for the rest of your fellow Mafia may turn out to be invaluable, as the Town has wasted a day in choosing not to lynch.
Options
The Mafioso is one of the only roles in the game without options.
Notes
- The Godfather overrules the suggestion system, forcing a random Mafioso to kill whomever the Godfather decides.
- A Mafioso is seen as a Mafioso/Serial Killer/Vigilante by an Investigator. If the chances of a Vigilante is low
- If the Mafioso's target is healed by a Doctor, there is no feedback.
