Overview

The Bus Driver is one of the most chaotic yet influential roles in the game, capable of drastically turning the tide both for and against the town. The role has the ability to swap the positions of two players each night, night actions that target one of the swapped players will be redirected to the other one. It is the best role ever.

Strategies

  • It is highly recommended to not drive if its unnecessary for a number of reasons including: accidentally killing crucial town members, it can force the Bus Driver to have to claim if a Sheriff or Investigator investigates someone the bus driver has switched (which incidentally may not be revealed at all if their target was innocent), if the bus driver doesn't claim it can lead the town to believe some people are guilty when they are in fact innocent and that some people are innocent when they are in fact guilty.
  • A Bus Driver has the potential to cause Serial Killers, Mafioso and Godfathers (when killing without a mafioso) to kill themselves by swapping them with their target. This becomes exponentially more valuable to the longer the game goes on as when who the mafia are more likely to target as well as who the mafia actually is becomes more clear.
  • Swapping the Mafia's target with any member of the Mafia will kill that Mafia member.
  • Additionally a Bus Driver can also force an Arsonist to douse themselves by swapping the arsonist with their target.

Notes

  • Bus Drivers can become extremely chaotic when multiple Bus Drivers are in the game at once
For example if there are 3 players (Player A, Player B and Player C) and 2 Bus drivers and the first bus driver swaps players A and B whilst the second bus driver swaps players B and C:
  • The original order of the players is A B C
  • If bus driver one swaps first the new order is B A C followed by B C A after bus driver two swaps
  • If bus driver two swaps first the new order is A C B followed by C A B after bus driver one swaps
Hence with multiple bus drivers it becomes impossible to predict which players were actually affected in the previous night if the Bus Drivers targets overlap because there are multiple possible outcomes
  • Bus Drivers only affect the recipients of night actions. For example if a Sheriff investigates a player and the Sheriff is then swapped but the Sheriff's target is not, then the Sheriff will still investigate their target normally.
  • Bus Drivers cannot target themselves
