Overview

The Mason Leader is a Town Government role with the ability to recruit a Citizen to become a Mason at night. Typically, a Mason Leader will be limited to a certain number of recruitments per game, however, dependent on the host's settings for the role.

Mason Leaders also have the ability to kill (bludgeon to death) any Cultist that he happens to visit at night. Therefore, the Mason Leader can be a very powerful role in countering the spread of Cultists in a game. Killing a Cultist, however, counts as one of the Mason Leader's recruitments for purposes of his game limit.

Strategies

  • When preparing your Last Will, it is very helpful to indicate who the other Masons are and who you have targeted for recruitment.
  • To the extent you have begun the game with other Masons or recruited them, you should attempt to coordinate with the Masons during the night in order to create a Town voting block.
  • If a Mason suddenly no longer appears at your night meetings or on your list of Mason allies (at the top right) but has not died, you should inform the Town of this immediately. This almost always means that the Mason in question was targeted and killed by a Disguiser (Mafia) or Informant (Triad).
  • You should be very careful which players you attempt to recruit because any attempt to recruit a Mafia / Triad member will notify that player of the Mason Leader's name and role. In contrast, the Mason Leader will NOT be informed that their target was Mafia, but merely that the recruitment failed (just as with any non-Citizen).

Options

  • Excluded from randoms - (Default: Off)
  • Limited recruits 2 - (Default: On)
  • Limited recruits 3 - (Default: Off)
  • Limited recruits 4 - (Default: Off)

If all the Limited recruits options are unchecked, the Mason Leader will have infinite recruitings available.

Notes

  • There can only be one Mason Leader in a game at any given time.
  • Mason Leader targets do not know they were picked unless they were Citizens or Mafia.
  • Mason Leaders will always know if their recruitment was successful. The Mason Leader and the rest of the Masons will receive a message with the recruit's name. The recruit becomes a Mason before the end of the night.
    • The Mason Leader will convert before a Cultist, so if a Mason Leader and Cultist both choose the same Citizen it will become a Mason and find the name of the Cultist who visited him.
  • If the Mason option "Becomes Leader if alone" is enabled, when a Mason becoming Mason Leader, he'll get a new full amount of recruitment attempts, making it useful for the Mason Leader to Suicide if more recruitment attempts is needed.
  • When a Disguiser replaces a Mason or Mason Leader the victim won't disappear from the allies list, but the Disguiser won't be part of the Mason night chat.
