Overview

The Sheriff is the most critical role to the success of a town; what the Sheriff knows is absolute and not open to interpretation such as an Investigator's clues are. As such, the Sheriff also tends to act as a form of leadership for the town to follow. The role has the ability to check the innocence of a player at night.

Strategies

  • As a Sheriff it is a player's duty to act as a leader when it comes to determining who to lynch as well as a voice of reason throughout the game. Whilst any player can embody this position, the Sheriff also has the knowledge to enforce it.
  • In a game where the Mafia has a Consort it is generally advised to remain undercover until the Sheriff has enough information as revealing oneself too early can lead to being role-blocked the rest of the game.
  • Revealing players to be innocent is relatively controversial unless said player is currently on trial. On one hand, it can help fellow Town members with other information to deduce the Mafia aligned players. However if the players pronounced innocent are attacked by the Mafia as opposed to other players then narrowing down the Mafia takes far longer, due to the number of players in question decreasing by one each night instead of two.
  • Utilization of the last will command is pivotal to the Town Roles's success as a Sheriff. Always leave unrevealed clues in the last will to help the town even after the Sheriff's demise. Use the last will by typing -last will or -lw into the chat and fill information into the prompt-box.
    • Having an easily readable and understandable format can be very important. For example:
      • N1: #7 (NS), N2: #5 (Mafia), N3: #9 (SK),

Options

If all Detects # options are unchecked, the game can not be started, because the Sheriff would be powerless.

Notes

  • Mafia roles will appear as "a member of the Mafia" unless the Sheriff is unable to detect them in which case they will appear as "not suspicious".
  • Serial Killers will appear as "a Serial Killer" unless the Sheriff is unable to detect them in which case they will appear as "not suspicious".
  • Mass Murderers will appear as "a Mass Murderer" unless the Sheriff is unable to detect them in which case they will appear as "not suspicious".
  • Arsonists will appear as "an Arsonist" unless the Sheriff is unable to detect them in which case they will appear as "not suspicious".
  • Cultists and Witch Doctors will appear as "a Cultist" unless the Sheriff is unable to detect them in which case they will appear as "not suspicious".
  • Framed players will appear as "a member of the Mafia" or an alive neutral killer.
