Overview

This section is dedicated to logging information on SC2Mafia for future players and staff.

The Beginning

The beginning of SC2Mafia (also known officially as Starcraft 2 Mafia) actually started with another game on another site. Mafia in its original incarnation was actually a WC3 (Warcraft 3) map called WC3Mafia and part of the website: councilofmages.com. The COM or The Council of Mages was based on a previous map created by Dark.Revenant called Battle Mages. The old WC3 map is still around to this day and can be found here: WC3Mafia. In March of 2011, Oops_ur_dead approached Dark.Revenant and challenged him to make it for Starcraft 2, which Dark.Revenant accepted. Hence after testing in late April, the game SC2Mafia was born. Thus first era of forum users came to be.

However the site continued to be called councilofmages.com and the game although relatively new gained a spot in the custom map top 10 maps but not before facing its first challenge.

First C&D & The beginning of Forum Mafia

Very shortly after SC2Mafia was released the map was updated to include the roles of Stripper and Hooker. After Blizzard sent a Cease and Desist order to get the names either changed or removed the names where changed to Escort and Consort respectively in patch: 0.93-0.94.

It was also around this time that the first FM (Forum Mafia) started. Dark.Revenant hosted it and from then on became an ongoing event.

During this period, the forums and game had reached a Golden Era of popularity virtually unmatched to this day. Unfortunately this Golden Age was about to end, and almost bring the end of SC2Mafia before it even started.

Kingdom of COM

After a error still unclear to this day, the server information was leaked on skype. It was found by Dark.Revenant's most trusted friend and servant Oops_ur_dead. However for reasons unknown, Oops_ur_dead in a Coup d'état usurped the ruling staff and declared himself king. Although extremely unpopular to the majority of users, the king consolidated his power to his vassals, forming his own staff and stripped Dark.Revenant's power and all loyal to him. Although this kingdom only lasted for several days, it caused most destruction of any other event before or after. Resulting in users rage-quitting and being banned, and that in return caused the downfall of Forum Mafia IV, which have since been purged along with most of this information during this era.

Thus ended the first generation of forum users, never to be seen again.

New Forums & Name Change

After the end of the kingdom of COM, and Dark.Revenant's power restored, Oops_ur_dead was given admin status to watch over the server. This become the start of the second generation of forum users, many of whom hold staff positions today. It is also believed during this time the DRSPF was formed to prevent another coup from happening. Not long after Dark.Revenant regained control the site was upgraded to vBulletin and given new logo, it is still the one in use today. The site's url was also changed to the current sc2mafia.com. Forum Mafia V was started after Dark.Revenant resumed control, albeit with some changes.

After SC2 1.5

SC2 1.5 was an major improvement for for SC2Mafia. The increased script limit for the SC2 Map Editor allowed for improvement of the UI and the addition of the Mass Murderer.
